ROle OVerview

The Central Creative Graphic Designer is responsible for creating and executing visual designs that effectively communicate the mission and values of Calvary Tabernacle's Main Campus, Community Campuses, and Educational Campuses. Under the guidance of the Creative Director (CD), the Graphic Designer plays a critical role in shaping the visual identity of the church and its associated institutions through print, digital, and multimedia channels. This role requires a strong understanding of design principles, attention to detail, and the ability to work collaboratively within a creative team environment.

specific responsibilities

Design and Creative Development

  • Develop visually compelling designs for print and digital materials, including brochures, signage, event promotions, social media graphics, and other marketing collateral.

  • Collaborate with the CD and other team members to conceptualize and execute creative ideas that align with the church’s mission and vision.

  • Ensure all designs are consistent with brand guidelines, maintaining a cohesive visual identity across the church and educational entities. 

  • Stay current with design trends and tools, implementing new techniques to enhance the quality and impact of visual communications.

Print Design

  • Create layouts and designs for print materials such as postcards, flyers, posters, banners, and other promotional items.

  • Work closely with vendors and printers to ensure accurate and high-quality production of printed materials.

  • Manage the preparation of files for print, ensuring all specifications are met for optimal results.

Digital and Web Design

  • Design graphics for digital platforms, including website banners, email newsletters, and social media posts, ensuring they are optimized for various devices and platforms.

  • Collaborate with the CD and web team to maintain the visual appeal and functionality of all of the organization’s websites and mobile apps, providing input on design elements and user experience.

  • Assist in the creation and maintenance of digital assets, including video thumbnails and graphic overlays, web graphics, and other interactive media.

Wayfinding and Environmental Design

  • Support the CD in developing environmental design elements, such as signage and wayfinding systems, that enhance the aesthetic and functional experience of the church and educational campuses.

Project Management

  • Manage multiple design projects simultaneously, ensuring all deadlines are met and quality standards are maintained.

  • Communicate regularly with the CD and other stakeholders to provide updates on project progress and address any challenges or changes in direction.

  • Organize and maintain a library of design assets, ensuring all files are properly labeled and stored for easy access and future use.

Brand Management

  • Uphold and enforce the visual identity guidelines for Calvary Tabernacle and its educational campuses, ensuring consistency across all design outputs.

  • Assist the CD in monitoring the use of logos, fonts, colors, and other brand elements across all platforms and materials.

  • Contribute to the development of new brand assets and guidelines as needed.

  • Help create and manage branded templates for use by other volunteers and employees within the organization.

Qualifications

Required

  • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign) and other relevant design software.

  • Strong portfolio showcasing a range of design work across print and digital mediums.

  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.

  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet tight deadlines.

  • Understanding of the mission, values, and visual identity of Calvary Tabernacle, Indiana Bible College, Calvary Christian School and Calvary Christian Childcare with a commitment to supporting their ministry goals through creative design.

Preferred

  • Skills in photography and videography, including capturing and editing. 

  • Experience in front-end website design on platforms such as Squarespace.
